Help & Support
Troubleshooting
If you have difficulties logging into or creating an Establishment Portal account, this troubleshooting guidance will help you identify and resolve common issues. Please expand the areas below:
Logging in / registering
Before you can start using the Establishment Portal, you need to have your settings account approved by the Social Care & Education Applications team. Follow these steps:
- Complete the Early Years Provider Access Request form or the School Access Request form.
- Register for an account on the Establishment Portal. Note that you won't see any details related to your setting until your access is approved.
- Enter the authentication code sent to your email. If the authentication code isn’t received, try these steps:
- Check your Junk or Spam folders.
- The code can take up to ten minutes to be received.
- Click on please send me a new code.
- Close your browser, clear your cache, and retry.
Don't use auto fill to complete the username and password, you should type the details manually.
If you have already registered, use the 'forgotten password' link to reset your password.
For organisations, contact your ICT department to ensure emails from https://establishmentportal.surreycc.gov.uk/web/portal/pages/home are not blocked by firewalls.
Check your internet connection
Make sure that you have a stable internet connection. To do this, try accessing other websites or online services to check if the problem is specific to the Surrey County Council Establishment Portal site. If you know your internet connection is unstable, consider resetting your router or connecting to a different network.
Clear your browser cache
Over time, your browser's cache can accumulate data that may interfere with the login process. Clear your browser cache and cookies to eliminate any potential conflicts. Instructions for clearing cache differ depending on the browser you are using. Check your browser's documentation or search online for detailed instructions.
To clear your cache in Microsoft Edge, follow these steps:
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Click on the three dots (menu) in the upper-right corner of the browser window.
- Select Settings from the dropdown menu.
- In the left-hand menu, click on Privacy, search, and services.
- Under the Clear browsing data section, click on Choose what to clear.
- In the pop-up window, select the Time range for which you want to clear the cache (e.g., Last hour, Last 24 hours, All time).
- Check the box next to Cached images and files.
- Click on the Clear now button.
Saved links in favourites
Instead of using the link saved in your favourites, type or click on this link: https://establishmentportal.surreycc.gov.uk This ensures you're seeing the latest version of the site.
Disable browser extensions
Temporarily disable any browser extensions, add-ons, or plugins that may interfere with the login process. Some extensions can cause conflicts or affect the functionality of web applications. Restart your browser after disabling the extensions and attempt to log in again. Check your browser's documentation or search online for detailed instructions.
Try a different browser
If you have ongoing login issues, try accessing the portal using a different web browser. This can help you work out if the problem is browser-specific. Popular alternative browsers include Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari. Install and use a different browser to see if the login issue persists.
Try incognito mode
If you have ongoing login issues, try accessing the portal using Incognito mode. This is a privacy feature available in most web browsers, such as Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox. When you browse in incognito mode, your browser doesn't save your browsing history, cookies, site data, or information entered in forms.
To enable Incognito mode in Microsoft Edge, you need to open an InPrivate window. Here’s how you can do it:
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Click on the three dots (menu) in the upper-right corner of the browser window.
- Select New InPrivate window from the dropdown menu.
System maintenance or outages
Occasionally, the Establishment Portal may undergo maintenance or experience service disruptions. During these times:
- Check the home page for any maintenance notices.
- If the portal is down, try again later.
- For urgent issues, contact the appropriate team via phone or email.
Being able to progress and submit forms
Every form has questions that must be completed and answered on each page before you can proceed to the next page. If the 'Next' button is greyed out and doesn't work, please scroll up and check that all fields have been filled in. Mandatory fields are marked with a red asterisk (*).
When you successfully submit the form, you will be taken to the "Thank you" page to confirm that the form has been submitted. Please make sure you reach this page before leaving the site.
Where visible, remember to select the 'save/save for later' button as you progress through each page of the form. This will prevent the loss of information if, for any reason, the web page closes or you lose connection.
